I enjoy setting up a scene where the viewer is invited into the world of the subject and has to wonder and create more to the quest.
The subjects I use as the heroes of these journeys are unlikely and sometimes reluctant. Animals are often used as side kicks or pivotal players. I use bold colors in my underpainting to create a glow. I want to highlight the subjects strength and beauty even when faced with the unknown.
